John Keats (1795–1821) was one of the greatest exponents of the poetry of British romance. He is an English poet of the Romantic era, one of the most subtle and soulful lyricists. John Keats was born in London, in the family of the owner of a cab.

Reading a work by Edmund Spencer marked a turning point in his literary development for Keats and inspired his first poem: Imitating Spencer.

After meeting the poet and publisher Lee Hunt, who cultivated romanticism, Keats managed to enter the circle of the most prominent poets of his time, such as Percy Bysshe Shelley and Lord Byron.

In 1817, he published his first collection of poetry, entitled Poems, although he did not have much reception.

By 1819, Keats would have written his best poems: Ode to Psyche, Ode to the Greek Urn, And Ode to the Nightingale, classics of English literature.
